Overview of the Undergraduate Medical Education Curriculum

As a teacher facilitating any part of the University of Ottawa MD Program, it’s important to understand the curriculum as a whole.

This module will take you through a typical week for a student in the first year of the MD Program.

By the end of the module you will be able to:

  1. Describe the different components of the four-year medical school curriculum.
  2. State where the various components of the online curriculum (e.g., Case-Based Learning [CBL], Self-Learning Modules [SLM], Society, Individual, and Medicine [SIM]) fit into a medical student’s weekly schedule.
  3. Locate the key resources available to faculty members.
